The spread of communicable diseases has impacted the delivery of dental services. This *interactive course reviews the principles of body mechanics, addresses the ergonomic needs of clinicians and discusses options in the clinical environment to enhance the dental provider’s musculoskeletal health.
Learning Objectives: The participant will:
- Integrate basic science of human factors/body mechanics/ergonomics into the clinical environment.
- Position yourself and client to achieve a neutral and effective working posture to provide optimal oral health services.
- Minimize stress, noise and fatigue in the clinical environment.
- Compare and select products to meet the needs of the clinician.

Claudia has presented and published articles focusing on dental and dental hygiene ergonomics in several journals. She is the ergonomics, “Ask the Expert” for Dimensions of Dental Hygiene. She is a Professor of Dental Hygiene and the recipient of teaching awards.
